I have just purchased a brand new 6ft 2 tier tank set since Jan 2014. Both tank dimension are 6 x 2.5 x 2 ft, sitting on a stainless steel frame of 2x2" thickness. Recently, I notice the center of both my front and back SS frame that was supporting my top tank starting to have slight bend downwards. I have consulted the tank maker and was told that this is usually the case for tanks of such size and especially for those without center pillar column for support. I would like to find out whether does any one here had any similar experience with their SS frame like mine?

Thanks in advance. yup i also have a slight bend on my stainless steel, but mine is 3 ft tank, should be fine..have been using it for few years. But make sure u need to use a thick polystrene on the base of the aquarium, mine i use around 3cm thick polystrene

Thanks for the reply. Just notice that my 2.5cm styrofoam board has already flatten to about 1.5cm... guess its due to the weight of my tank. I am more concern when the tank totally flatten my styrofoam within ?? duration, touches the SS frame and crack because of the weight forcing it to bend. keeping my fingers cross, contacting my tank maker for rectification asap now.

If your tank start leaking, the maker will blame it on the frame claiming that the frame is not level thus it affect the glue joint.

>better hurry to get your tank marker to add in a center support.. it might not look nice for the bottom tank.. but at least it help to support the weight on the center.. cos when you saw bending.. mean the structure is not engineered to carry the weight of the load ontop.. as time go, the center of the tank glass might crack or the silicon there might give way and water will leak.. worst if it crack you are going to have a "pond" in your room..
